Years ago, I dabbled in pure HTML as one of the many expressions of graphic design. I often heard murmurs suggesting that this shift toward the digital realm might signal the decline of the print industry. Yet, I chose not to pay too much heed to those claims. Fast forward to today, and it's clear that people are increasingly fixated on their handheld screens, just a tap away from accessing information, services, and products more swiftly than thumbing through physical pages, making a phone call, or personally visiting a brick-and-mortar establishment. The advent of web systems has significantly revolutionized how business is conducted. In the modern landscape, the web encompasses a vast ecosystem, featuring applications, databases, servers, payments, shipping, and security measures. Recently, I underwent an upgrade and discovered that I can offer far more than just graphic design.

This system, created as a prototype during Computer Science classes, serves as a virtual ID app, replacing physical key-cards for building and gate access. It utilizes Python to control a Raspberry Pi with NFC capability and a keyboard, while also offering a hybrid app for iOS and Android, developed using React Native and integrated with Firebase. Microservices are implemented through an Express Server with Node.js.

This tool gathers data from students and companies, facilitating potential internship matches based on qualifications. It's built in PHP with a local SQL database, exclusive to the school's internship manager. We also considered integrating AI for CV parsing and API connections for broader recruiter use with a robust database, user logins, and permissions.
